[For the last few days, Raven hadn't returned to their shared room at the inn. Maybe she'd been injured? It didn't help Mukuro's nerves that the first few times she'd tried to dial her number she'd got a message about it being disconnected-
But finally, she was able to get through! The relief was noticeable in her voice as she spoke.]
It's me.
Tell me your location and whether a pick up is required. I will bring medical supplies.
I mean to be honest I find the whole vanishing from your world and being randomly dumped in a lake is pretty creepy in general, don't you think?
Or was this kinda cra- stuff normal where you're from?
[Just reminding herself not to swear in front of the kid...oh, and now she'd got her disguise back up and running, she'll switch over to video too, so he can see who he's talking to.]
You like her? This is my familiar, Fenrir- she's a Hellhound. Say hi, Fenrir!
[The familiar sniffed at the phone a moment, giving Razor a nice view of the big doggo- he might even be able to make out the embers flickering across her fur, or the gleam like fire in her eyes.]
Ah - Shoot... Where is a good place... Crap, I didn't think this through... [This is said at a mumble and under his breath, so it's questionable how much of that Razor might have heard.]
R-right, where am I? Uhh... Meet me outside the bakery that we both like! You know which one I mean, right?
[ Luckily for Bennett, when he texted Razor, he was out and about in the forest so he will inevitably arrive after Bennett unless he comes across some horrible luck. But, he makes his way into the city, and as soon as he sees the bakery, he picks up his pace looking ahead to see if Bennett is already there.
They know them at this place. Frequent customers and all that. The woman who owns it likes him, and has given him little bonuses now and again when he shops. ]
[Unfortunately, bad luck is drawn to Bennett like moths to a flame. On the way there he got stuck behind a fallen cart, forcing him to find another route to the bakery. Then he fell down an open manhole and had to climb out of the sewers. But he finally makes it to the bakery! ...Looking frazzled and drenched in water of questionable cleanliness. But he made it at least!]
Razor, hey! Sorry I'm late! Just my luck that you'd beat me here, huh? Ah well, it doesn't matter much.
[Uh oh. Bennett knows the face Razor makes when he's picking up a scent. He's holding the box he has for him behind his back. He was going to have to be quick before Razor starts questioning.]
I'm fine, don't worry about it. I just ran into some problems getting here. Nothing I'm not used to, haha.
[Bennett pulls his hands out from behind his back, revealing a wrapped present. The box itself was on the smaller side, easily held in two hands, and the wrapping job was questionable at best, the paper being torn and scratched in places, and the bow mysteriously having scorch marks on it. But the box itself was intact!]
[ There's a moment where he seems...dumfounded. Excited, too. And really, well, touched. He brings the gift close to him for a moment before he'll tear into Bennett's work, regardless as to the condition of it. ]
Uh-huh! I dunno what wolves do to celebrate birthdays, but for humans, we give gifts to the people we love and care about on their birthdays!
[Bennett waits for Razor to start opening the box before he continues. Inside the box, he'll find two items, and they're two items that Razor will probably recognize very well. A pair of goggles, matching the ones on top of Bennett's head, and an orange bandana, just like the one tied around Bennett's arm. Je wants you to match him as a member of Benny's Adventure Team. Do you accept y/n?]
I know it's not really much. But I wanted to give you something to show how much I appreciate you. You've always been such an amazing friend and teammate to me ever since we first met, and you've always stuck by me even though you know about my curse... Words can't possibly express how much that means to me, so I hope this gift does instead!
[ He moves his hand to his chest and he smiles delighted for a moment. He pulls out the goggles first and puts them on to match the other, then the bandana.
He taps his chest and he nods, flushing a little bit - he's really happy. He doesn't know how to describe the feeling, but he can describe it. ]
Feel - good. Warm, happy. Thank you, Bennett. Best friend.
[Best friend... Bennett smiles softly at Razor. He considered himself an unlucky soul. But... He truly had all thr luck in the world when it came to the things that mattered most to him, like good friends.]
Yeah! Don't worry, I've got you.
[He'll just go ahead and take that bandana from Razor and help him with tying it around his arm.]
[ He watches as the other ties the bandana around his arm. Once he's done he stretches it out to examine the work and smiles happily towards his friend. He brings his hand to his chest. ]
It makes me feel...happy.
[ And he does something slightly unexpected and happily paps Bennett's cheeks with his hands. ]
Understand friends, even if not always understand other stuff.
[Bennett smiles softly seeing Razor enjoy his gift so. He wasn't sure how well such a simple gift would have been received by Razor, since he's sure the boy would have been perfectly happy receiving meat or something else he could eat as a gift. But none of that is really a symbol of their friendship, is it...
He doesn't have much opportunity to think about that, when Razor suddenly paps his face. He manages to squeeze out a response between squished cheeks.]
[ A happy little cake will be waiting for him, brought over by Mitsu, and a little note ]
» To dearest Razor, I am not very familiar with traditions in this world, or yours. But I tried very hard to follow the ones here. It's a "birthday cake" for you. You're such a strong, and wonderful friend, and I am so proud of you. Maybe we can have a picnic together on your birthday?
Let me know, because I'll be making something delicious for you. I'll be waiting! Thank you for being my family.

[ And whenever he does come by, he's definitely getting the yummiest of meats to eat! ]
[He doesn't use text, and from the way his voice sounds he's in cat-shape now rather than human shape. It's been a few days since he last saw Razor, but his unspoken fondness for the semi-feral boy is only part of what prompted the message.]
[It's a nice offer. Mogget is always accepting of food.
Not long after this, Razor will be able to spot a small white cat bouncing through the grass in his direction. The bell on his collar jingles softly while he moves and it lightly taps against the green pendant hanging beside it. Without knowing precisely where Razor was he had been able to track the young man down by his scent.]
[ Razor extends a hand towards the cat, and offering to come join him. There's plenty of space, and Mogget is welcome to join him by sitting next to him, or crawling up onto the young man. He doesn't seem like he'd mind either way. He has a small set up he has with his recently cooked meat and a couple of fresh fruits set off to the side. The fire has been put out for a little bit now, no need to keep it going when the air isn't too cool for him, and he doesn't want to hurt the area he loves to stay. ]
[Between Razor's scent and the familiar smells of a camp and a fire, he hadn't been able to miss him. The cat's steps speed up just a little as he clears the last of the distance between them and he butts up gently underneath the hand behind held out to him, purring immediately.
He hasn't always been so openly affectionate towards the boy and still always maintains that he is certainly not a cat, but he also definitely acts like one.]
[ He's more than happy to accept any sort of affection from the cat. He doesn't know that he understands what Mogget is, so Razor keeps it simple with him. Treat him like a friend. Treat him like someone he trusts. And treat him like someone who has been kind to him. He moves his fingers over the head of the purring cat. ]
[He does sit down next to the boy, leaning just a little of his weight against the side of Razor's leg. It's a pleasant feeling, to actually like someone enough to want to spend time with them like this... even if it might only be a temporary arrangement.
Mogget has learned not to expect too much.]
Have you heard about people here going to sleep, and then waking up with memories of home that they didn't have before?
[ Whether or not he fully understands what happened? It's a totally different story. He sets his hand gently on Mogget's head as the other leans against him. He doesn't move at all, just lets his eyes shift and linger onto his smaller friend. ]
[He settles comfortably next to Razor's leg, falling silent for a moment before he shifts down into a loaf position and tucks his paws in beneath his chest.]
Razor... you know that I am not really a cat, don't you.
[Mogget is sure that Razor knows this, as much as he is sure that Razor does not actually care one way or the other as long as Mogget is nice to him. It's easy to be nice to Razor - such a simple, uncomplicated boy with no ulterior motives.]
[ So he doesn't understand. Not really anyway. He doesn't know what Mogget is, but if he says he is not really a cat, then Razor believes him, even in this form. If one day Mogget were to tell him he is a cat, Razor would believe him then, too.
For now, he knows only that the other is good to him. ]
[Of course it's so simple. Mogget's ears flick back for a moment, a conflict of emotion setting his fur to bristling, then he blinks slowly and shuffles his weight a little.]
Then I'm going to tell you something that you might not understand, but I want to tell you. [Why, he doesn't elaborate on... but Razor has become important to him, so he gets to hear it first.]

What- wait, who is this?
[Mukuro, he asked first, don't be rude.]

[ That's all she gets out of it. If she wants more information, she's going to have to be pretty specific with him. ]

Mu- My name's Junko Enoshima.
[The act slowly came back into her voice, bringing back that fake enthusiasm.]
So, like, I'm looking for my roommate Raven- uhh- adult. Tall, long black hair, red eyes- wears a lot of red and black. You seen anyone like that?
no subject
Razor don't know lots.
[ He seems unbothered with the idea of that, too. He...even kind of likes that he doesn't know tons of people. ]
no subject
Yeah, okay, that makes sense.
Seriously, is it normal for people to just up and vanish here, do you think? Um. Don't worry if you don't know. I'm just... frustrated.

[ Not helpful, again. ]
If people can come here. People can leave here.

[ So that means, clearly, that some people will be leaving. And, he's optimistic that this place isn't a permanent answer. ]

Mean everywhere else is frozen in time or whatever, so things have to be pretty messed up to start with.
